Located in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, Garfield High School is a multi-story high school and athletic complex. RJ Martin Electric was retained to install electrical distribution equipment in completed walls and floors of the precast building. The original architect design did not meet Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC) design specifications. Therefore, original electrical design was revised during construction.
As a centerpiece of the project, the mechanical mezzanines for the athletic building and high school were prefabricated and lowered into the mezzanine using cranes. Once the mechanical rooms set, the power was connected to the mechanical equipment.
The project duration was approximately 11 months, and RJ Martin Electric completed its scope on time and on budget. Through this project, RJ Martin Electric created an extended working relationship with the Garfield Heights School District, which has since led to subsequent projects.
